The Baskerville Learning Journey
Key Stage 3 (Ages 11-14): Building Strong Foundations
Thoughtful Class Organization: Our Key Stage 3 students are carefully grouped considering age, communication abilities, learning styles, and social needs. This thoughtful approach ensures each student learns alongside peers who can support and inspire them.
Small Class Excellence:
Maximum of 10 students per class, ensuring individualised attention
A dedicated class teacher who becomes an expert in each student's needs and strengths
One, two  or more consistent teaching assistants providing stability and personalised support
Specialist subject teachers bringing expertise in areas like PE, music, art, and technology
Consistent support team - teaching assistants stay with students throughout the day, providing security and continuity
Key Stage 3 Focus Areas:
Establishing strong communication foundations
Developing academic skills through engaging, hands-on learning
Building social connections and friendship skills
Exploring personal interests and talents
Developing independence in daily routines
Beginning to understand the wider world and community
Key Stage 4 (Ages 14-16):
Growing Independence and Achievement
Accredited Learning Pathways: Students follow nationally recognised qualifications adapted to their individual strengths and needs. Our flexible approach means each student can achieve success while working toward meaningful credentials.
Post-16 Options (Ages 16-19)

Students can progress to either:
On-site Post-16 Program - Focusing on independence, life skills and vocational training  and art
Bournville College Resource Base - With options for mainstream class integration or specialised life skills curriculum
Most students remain in our supportive environment until age 19.

Work preparation: CV writing, interview skills, workplace behavior, and job searching

Real work experience in supported environments
Skill development in areas like hospitality, retail, office work, gardening, and creative industries

Our Discovery Department provides a nurturing, specialised environment for students with autism and severe developmental delays, offering a truly individualised approach to learning and development.
Developmental Curriculum:
Sensory learning experiences are designed for individual sensory profiles
Communication development using multiple methods and technologies
Basic life skills are taught through repetition, routine, and positive reinforcement
Social interaction is encouraged through structured activities and peer connections
Physical development through movement, exercise, and therapeutic activities
Highly Specialised Support:

Multi-disciplinary team including teachers, therapists, and specialists
